Glenn Dorsey’s Vision for Smarter Zoning and Housing in Escambia County

I want help shape Escambia County’s planning and zoning decisions in ways that directly affect housing opportunity. The Escambia County BOCC influence can be immediate, practical, and tied to daily decisions that determine what gets built and what gets blocked.

The Commissioners set the priorities

I want to guide updates to the Land Development Code. The BOCC can direct staff to revise rules that expand density, promote redevelopment, or increase mixed-use growth. When the BOCC makes housing a priority, homes can become affordable for the average worker.

The Commissioners can remove barriers

I support rezoning that add townhomes, apartments, and workforce housing. I want reduce unnecessary requirements, and restrictions that drive up costs. Every barrier we remove creates a new path for builders to produce homes families can afford.

The Commissioners can control the approval process

I want streamline reviews so applicants get faster results. We need to cut redundant steps and stop avoidable delays that raise construction costs. Faster approvals mean more projects move from concept to construction.

I support redevelopment

I want to direct growth toward corridors and aging commercial areas that need investment. I support zoning changes that turn underused land into needed housing. This adds units without increasing sprawl or burdening taxpayers.

The Commissioners must align infrastructure planning

I want to prioritize roads, sidewalks, stormwater improvements, and utilities that support new housing. Smart investments make projects feasible. Neglect stalls development.

We need to scrutinize every zoning decision

Every rezoning, variance, and ordinance shapes whether housing becomes easier or harder to build.

I have expectations for accountability

I require clear timelines, predictable rules, and strong communication so builders and residents know what to expect. Consistent standards attract responsible development.

I believe Escambia County needs more affordable housing choices. I believe smarter zoning and planning will help families find a place to live without raising taxes, without giving away taxpayer dollars.

I am committed to opening the door for responsible growth and strengthening our neighborhoods with real opportunity.

I am Glenn Dorsey, a 2026 Republican Candidate for Escambia County Commissioner District 2.
