Four years ago, we were promised a “Capable & Committed” leader who would finally fix our roads, clear the blight, and solve our chronic flooding. Today, the data tells a different story. I’ve released a new infographic to show you the truth about the last four years, and I want to walk you through exactly what it means for your neighborhood.
Stuck in the “Study Loop”
The defining theme of the last four years has been the “Study Loop.” This is the cycle where urgent projects are announced with great fanfare, only to be quietly tucked away into years of engineering studies, public hearings, and re-designs. While other districts break ground on major new facilities, District 2 is told to wait for another report.
1. The Broken Promise: Sorrento Road
- The 2022 Pitch: Fixing the daily bottleneck on Sorrento Road was a top priority for our commute and our safety.
- The 2026 Reality: The project to actually widen the road to four lanes remains stuck in the “Design” phase. You’re still sitting in the same traffic jam while the county holds more meetings.
2. The Unfinished Gateway: Warrington Blight
- The 2022 Pitch: Navy Boulevard would be revitalized, bringing new business and pride back to the Gateway of NAS Pensacola.
- The 2026 Reality: The 2025 Warrington Plan Update confirms that the “Complete Street” project remains unfunded for construction. The vacant lots remain while the plans sit on a shelf.
3. The Planning Maze: Drainage & Flooding
- The 2022 Pitch: Real solutions for the flooding in Navy Point and Bayou Grande.
- The 2026 Reality: These projects are trapped in a bureaucratic maze. Bayou Grande is still classified as a “Roadmap Study.” We don’t need a roadmap; we need pipes in the ground.
4. The Funding Disparity: Where is Our Fair Share?
- The 2022 Pitch: A strong voice at the table for District 2.
- The 2026 Reality: While our projects are “unfunded,” the Board moved forward with identifying $75 million for renovations to the Bay Center in District 4. Our needs shouldn’t come second to downtown spectacles.
It’s Time for Closing Dates, Not More Studies
The incumbent is asking for four more years of the same approach. I’m running to offer a different path: Results over Reports. I will move District 2 from a culture of endless planning to a culture of execution. We will set clear closing dates and hold the county accountable to the voters.
If you’re ready for a Commissioner who prioritizes your commute and your community over more “studies,” join our movement today.
